蚕の終齢幼虫は、繭を作るため簇（まぶし）という小さく仕切られた器に入れられる。やがて時期がくると蚕は自らが成形した繭を押し広げて巣立ち、残された簇はまた新たな幼虫を迎える。 

小学校の教室が担う役割は、さながら簇のようだ。幼い生徒たちが自ら繭を破り簇から去る日、彼らが見た新しい世界と、主が不在となった教室の空虚さを作品に表した。

 Last-instar silkworms are entered into "Mabushi", cases divided into small chambers, to weave cocoons. Eventually the

silkworms push out the cocoons and leave the "Mabushi". The empty "Mabushi" welcomes new silkworms. The role of elementary school classrooms is analogous to that of "Mabushi". Breaking the cocoons and leaving the "Mabushi", the young school kids will find a new world. By contract the classrooms without anybody will bring a feeling of emptiness. This work shows the contrast of the new world and the emptiness.
